ABC7’s Mark Rivera to emcee Negocios Now virtual Gala event

Chicago, (Hispanic News Agency)- ABC7 anchor and reporter Mark Rivera will be the emcee of Negocios Now’s “Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago” virtual Gala event to be held on August 28, 2020, at 5:30 pm CT to celebrate Hispanic leadership in Chicago.
“We are grateful to have Mark again at the Negocios Now gala and for ABC7’s continued support of Negocios Now,” said Clemente Nicado, Publisher. It will be the seventh consecutive year that Negocios Now celebrates with a special edition of the publication. This year it was published at the beginning of July and dedicated its cover to recognizing Latinos who are fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the virtual celebration, Negocios Now will recognize the following leaders with four awards:
  • Business of the Year Award: Arthur Zayas Miller, CEO of MZI Group, Inc, a $70 million company
  • Latinas in Business Award: Brenda Garza Karhoff, president and founding principal of Garza Karhoff Engineering, LLC, a construction company
  • Community Champion Award: Rey B. Gonzalez, president and CEO of El Valor
  • El Amigo de Negocios Now: Rosa Escareño, Commissioner of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection
Negocios Now will also announce another special award for a Latino or Latina who has been on the front line in the fight against COVID-19.
Wintrust Community Bank serves as the main sponsor of the “Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago” special edition and Gala event. Additional supporters include AccentureBMOComEd, Peoples Gas, Dominican University, Hilco and Miramar Group.

Entertainment Announced for 2019 Who’s Who of Hispanic Chicago Gala Event

 The Ballet Folklorico Sones Mexicanos and El Bandolero band will be the featured entertainment at Negocios Now Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago gala event, to be held on July 12, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

Sones Mexicanos will perform during cocktail hour, sponsored by Remy Martin and El Bandolero will close the night with a live performance=

Negocios Now Who’s Who special edition profiles over 250 individuals in different categories and will also present special awards to Camerino Gonzalez, founder of Los Comales Restaurants, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award; Socorro Vazquez, president of Toro Construction Corp, who will receive the Latinas in Business Award; Daniel Arce, CEO of Tropical Optical, who will receive the Business of the Year Award; and Jose R. Sanchez, president of Norwegian American Hospital, who will receive the Community Champion Award.

Other awardees are Peter Villegas, Vice President and Head of Latin Affairs for Coca-Cola Company and Jamie Rhee, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation.

Commissioner Jamie Rhee to receive El Amigo de Negocios Now Award

Jamie Rhee, Commissioner of the Department of Aviation, will be the recipient of “El Amigo de Negocios Now Award-2019” during the Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago Gala event that will take place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on July 12.

 “Jamie has not only been a good Amiga of Negocios Now, recognizing our role in covering the growing Hispanic business community for 12 years but has been especially an amazing friend of small minority businesses, encouraging them to become certified companies, opening the doors to new opportunities”, said Clemente Nicado, publisher of Negocios Now.

  Rhee manages one of the world’s busiest airport systems, comprised of O’Hare and Midway International Airports, which serves more than 100 million passengers each year and propels Chicago as a global leader for air cargo activity.

Chicago’s airports are also among the most connected in the world, serving more than 260 locations via 50 different commercial carriers to 46 countries worldwide. Rhee today oversees multi-billion dollar modernization programs designed to further elevate the travel experience of one of the world’s best-connected airport systems.

Negocios Now Calls for Nominations for 2019 Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago

Chicago, IL, February 2019 (HINA) – Negocios Now is calling for nominations for the 6th Annual Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago Special Edition, which will be announced on July 12, during a special gala event to celebrate Chicago’s Hispanic leadership.

The deadline for submissions is May 15. A selection committee will review the nominations and make the final decision regarding recipients and the selected individuals will be notified via email.

Candidates will come from a variety of sectors including, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, members of the legal field, realtors, local government, education and healthcare.

Nominations will be sent in from community members based on criteria, which is available for review at Negocios Now website: www.negociosnow.com/nominatewho/. Candidates are also encouraged to nominate themselves if they fit the criteria.

“Twelve years ago, I left the Chicago Tribune to create a publication focused on the growing Latino business community. This would serve as a basis to encourage them even in difficult times,” says Negocios Now’s Founder and Publisher, Clemente Nicado. “These days, Negocios Now has gone even further in its eagerness to celebrate Latinos with the annual special edition and event that recognizes the growing community of entrepreneurs and business leaders.
