Jamie Rhee, Commissioner of the Department of Aviation, will be the recipient of “El Amigo de Negocios Now Award-2019” during the Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago Gala event that will take place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on July 12.

“Jamie has not only been a good Amiga of Negocios Now, recognizing our role in covering the growing Hispanic business community for 12 years but has been especially an amazing friend of small minority businesses, encouraging them to become certified companies, opening the doors to new opportunities”, said Clemente Nicado, publisher of Negocios Now.

Rhee manages one of the world’s busiest airport systems, comprised of O’Hare and Midway International Airports, which serves more than 100 million passengers each year and propels Chicago as a global leader for air cargo activity.

Chicago’s airports are also among the most connected in the world, serving more than 260 locations via 50 different commercial carriers to 46 countries worldwide. Rhee today oversees multi-billion dollar modernization programs designed to further elevate the travel experience of one of the world’s best-connected airport systems.

Rhee has demonstrated experience mastering complex issues in aviation as well as municipal government, having served in earlier roles as Chief Procurement Officer where she oversaw purchasing and procurement reform on behalf of the City of Chicago; as well as in previous roles at the CDA, including as General Counsel on the O’Hare Modernization Program. Rhee has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctorate degree from DePaul University School of Law.

Nicado Publishing established the “El Amigo de Negocios Now Award” as a thank you to all those who have helped this small company make Negocios Now the most awarded Latino business publication in the country in the last decade with over 15 national awards and a Peter Lisagor award for General Excellence Award in 2012.

Recently, Negocios Now announced the other Special awards during the Who’s Who Gala event. Since 2014, the publication recognizes the Hispanic leadership in Chicago with a unique Special Edition and Gala Event that has been sold-out in the past five years.
