Lisa Duarte is leader in the field of government affairs.  With stints in both government and business, Lisa has combined her private and public sector experience to deliver essential insights for her clients to navigate the challenges and opportunities they face.

 

Lisa is currently a Partner in the Government Affairs practice group, at Forde Law Offices. Her focus is on cutting edge legislative and regulatory issues within Chicago and Cook County.  Guiding businesses in the fields of energy, biotechnology, gaming, software, real estate development, transportation, and hospitality is a sample of her diverse client base.

 

She has also served as Chief of Staff to Steve Koch, Deputy Mayor of the City of Chicago and Legislative Counsel to Mayor Rahm Emanuel. As Chief of Staff to the Mayor’s Economic Council, Lisa worked with leaders to implement the Mayor’s economic goals of job growth, economic development, infrastructure improvement, and fiscal stability.

 

As Legislative Counsel, Lisa served as a senior member on the Mayor’s Springfield team representing the City of Chicago. During this time Lisa’s legislative work focused on gun control, municipal pensions, gaming, rideshare, alcohol regulation, transportation, and tax increment finance work.  Lisa also practiced law at a boutique firm where she worked in the areas of employment law, commercial litigation, construction law, and zoning and land use.

 

A Logan Square native, Lisa has degree from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law.  She is also a graduate of the Edgar Fellows Program, at the University of Illinois’ Institute of Government and Public Affairs and has completed the Crain’s Leadership Academy Program.

 

Lisa serves on the Board of Directors for Illinois American Water and also holds leadership roles on the Jobs Committee for Cristo Rey Jesuit High School and the Resource Board for the Metropolitan Planning Council.  Lisa is also a Founding Board Member of the Chicago City Council Latino Caucus Foundation Leadership Academy.
