#23 – Henry Montoya

From the classroom to boardroom

Age: 37

Title: Director of Operations

Name of Organization: ALPFA – Chicago Chapter

Henry is a Peruvian immigrant, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 7 years, living in Japan, Quantico, and Puerto Rico, before returning to Chicago where he grew up. He graduated from DePaul University, with a B.S. in Commerce, with a concentration in Operations Management.

Like most Veterans, Henry explored various careers before finding a personality fit in Marketing, Sales, Marketing Automation, and Salesforce Administration.  His passion, however, was volunteering, and from early in his career he joined the board of directors of the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals for America.  Henry served as an ALPFA board member and volunteer since 2009, until he ultimately found a calling to join ALPFA as a staff member in 2018, choosing to devote his full time and attention to executing ALPFA’s mission of empowering Latino Leaders of character, in every sector of the economy.  As a national ALPFA staff member and leader, Henry is proud to every day get to help build a pipeline of Latino leaders from college classrooms to boardrooms, and in continuously finding ways in which ALPFA can help develop true leaders across its 6 pillars: Domain Competency, Social Engagement, Community Engagement, Wealth Creation, Health and Wellness, and Entrepreneurship /Intrapreneurship.  He gets the most joy in his work when he sees ALPFA’s Latino leaders excel and be recognized throughout the United States.

Henry lives in the Albany Park neighborhood, and in his spare time enjoys dancing, and reading books on entrepreneurship, personal self-development and leadership.

Words of Wisdom:

“A transformational goal requires continuous attention. Waking up to the big vision. Tracking and reflecting on the activities, pivoting where needed. Consulting from other big thinkers and injecting your enthusiasm!”
