David Romero, a Chicago native and U.S. Army veteran, is a Diversity & Inclusion Manager for United Airlines, where he is responsible for managing many of United’s diversity-focused national sponsorships and talent strategies.
Prior to United, David spent several years in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer, reaching the rank of Captain. He has extensive leadership experience, having led units of up to 200 Soldiers both in the United States and in international conflict zones. While deployed overseas, he gained extensive international experience as a part of NATO and working with the United Nations during peacekeeping operations in Kosovo.
David is a graduate of the U.S. Army Basic Officer Leader Course, Infantry Officer School, Airborne School, and Air Assault School. He also has several years of experience in corporate, working for Accenture, KPMG, and W.W. Grainger, in human resources, with a focus in leadership, talent, and organizational effectiveness.
David has attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and DePaul University, where he received his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He holds his Professional in Human Resources Certification from HRCI as well as his Certification in Project Management from Northwestern University. Having a strong passion for continuous learning, he is currently attending Northwestern University working towards a Certification in Communications and Business Writing.
David currently serves as the Co-Chair of Professional Development for the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement’s Young Professionals Board and is actively involved in the Hispanic Community on a local and national level.
