Lourdes Duarte WGN-9 co-anchor will be the emcee of Negocios Now’s Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago Gala Event to be held on Friday, July 14th at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
Lourdes has won several awards including four Emmy Awards for general assignment and investigative reporting. Most recently, she won an Emmy Award for her story titled “Unlicensed and Serving.” She also received an Emmy nomination for a story on deportation. Lourdes and a WGN photographer were aboard the plane that transported undocumented immigrants to their home country.
Lourdes is co-anchor of WGN Evening News at 4pm. Prior to WGN Evening News, she spent three years as co-anchor of WGN Morning News from 4-6am. She also spent several years as co-anchor of WGN Evening News and as a reporter for WGN News at Nine.
Lourdes came to WGN-TV in September 2007 as a general assignment reporter for WGN Midday News, WGN Evening News and WGN News at Nine.
Prior to joining WGN-TV, Lourdes spent three years as a general assignment reporter at WJBK in Detroit. She was also a reporter at WXIN-TV in Indianapolis. While there, she launched, produced and hosted the station’s public affairs program, “Hoy en Dia,” which won an Emmy Award under her leadership. Lourdes also spent some time as a reporter at WHOI-TV in Peoria, Illinois, after getting her start as a freelance reporter for Telemundo in Chicago.
Currently, Lourdes hosts “Adelante Chicago” on WGN-TV, which highlights the city’s growing Latino community. Lourdes has been recognized several times for her community work in Chicago. She was picked as one of DePaul University’s “14 Under 40.” In 2010, the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus awarded her with a service award. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from DePaul University.
