As a first-generation college student, Jose A. Marroquin understands the value of education and its ability to provide a pipeline for professional and social mobility. Since 2012, Jose has worked within the higher education field, having previously worked in the nonprofit sector. 

 

Prior to his current role, he worked at Roosevelt University Chicago as the Director of Student Involvement, working directly with the RU Student Government Association and the University Programming Board. 

 

Jose is involved with the ALPFA Chicago Board of Directors (Association of Latino Professionals for America). Additionally, he volunteers for the One Million Degrees nonprofit, the only organization in Illinois and one of few in the country dedicated to providing comprehensive support to low income, highly motivated community college students. Jose is entering his third year as a volunteer coach. Within his coach role, he has become a coach ambassador to recruit new coaches and has been invited to be a part of the One Million Degrees Associates Board. Jose also volunteers for his fraternity as the National Director of Alumni Affairs. 

 

Jose was raised in Pilsen, graduated with a Master of Arts from Ball State University and obtained his Bachelor of Science from Western Illinois University. Currently he is working on his M.B.A at Loyola University Chicago
