Jorge Cabrera, MBA, currently serves as the Chicago Co-Chair of LatinxMBA.org, a national network of Latinx MBA alumni and current students dedicated to creating access to opportunities and advocating for the U.S. Latinx business community.
Additionally, Cabrera is an award-winning finance professional employed by Abbott, a Fortune 500 company renowned for its groundbreaking products in diagnostics, medical devices, nutrition, and branded generic pharmaceuticals, all aimed at promoting healthier lives within communities. In December 2023, he received Abbott’s Core Diagnostics Finance Excellence Award.
Originally from Ecuador, Cabrera spent his formative years in northern New Jersey. He earned his MBA in Finance from Rutgers University in 2022. He served as the President of the Rutgers Business School Alumni Association for three years, overseeing a membership of over 50,000 alumni.
Throughout his academic and professional journey, Cabrera has garnered multiple accolades. As a student, he was honored with the Rutgers MBA Program’s Dr. Rosa Oppenheim Leadership Award. During his undergraduate years, Cabrera was recognized as the Student Leader of the Year by Rutgers University. Further recognition includes being named “Top Latino Leader Under 40” by Prospanica NY in 2019, inclusion in the “2020/2021 New Jersey Latino Index Top 100” published by The Latino Spirit/INSIDER NJ, and selection for the “2020 INSIDER NJ 100 Millennials: Millennials to Watch” list by INSIDER NJ.
