J. Marcos Peterson, a proud Latino and member of the LGBTQ+ community, has dedicated his career to empowering diverse communities.

From serving in the White House to owning a successful small business, running the State of Illinois Business Enterprise Program, and advising on diversity and inclusion, his experiences have shaped him into a leader impacting various communities. Currently, Peterson serves as the global business network director for the sports and entertainment business network at the Young Presidents Organization.

Beginning his career in the White House under President George W. Bush, Peterson supported logistics and operations for various international summits and meetings. Afterward, he founded Marcos Central, a consultancy assisting multi-generational immigrants in acclimating to American society through financial, educational, and professional support.

Later, as the head of the Illinois Business Enterprise Program, Peterson directed nearly $1 billion of state procurement dollars to minority, women, disability, and veteran-owned businesses, achieving record-high spend levels. He also pioneered the nation’s first statewide Sheltered Markets Program, which reserves certain state procurements for these businesses.

Currently, Peterson collaborates with over 2,300 members of YPO’s Sports & Entertainment Business Network, fostering leadership development through strategy, education, and networking.

In his spare time, Peterson enjoys attending Chicago sporting events, traveling, and serving on the board of the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center, which supports abused children. He is also an active member of Park Community Church.

Peterson remains committed to advocating for various communities, partnering with organizations, leaders, advisors, and lawmakers to promote parity and equity.
