DENVER — Negocios Now’s special edition “100 Latinos Nonprofits” received a Gold Award during the journalism contest sponsored by the National Association of Hispanic Publications. The award was presented on Tuesday 17, 2022, during the association’s annual conference in Denver.
Published in December 2021, “100 Latinos Nonprofits” is an initiative of the Hispanic business publication to promote Chicago organizations.
“Nonprofit organizations play a key role in our community. We are glad that our effort to cover them has been recognized,” said Clemente Nicado, publisher of Negocios Now. The award was received in the “Outstanding Nonprofit Partnership” category.
The publication received two more awards in business categories.
NAHP gave Negocios Now the Best Business Article Award for a feature about three sisters who took control of their father’s gardening company in the Chicago suburb of Romeoville, Illinois, after he died of COVID-19.
“This story explains itself — the entrepreneurial spirit of our Latino business community as new generations of Latinos continue the tradition of a family business,” said Nicado.
Negocios Now also received the Best Business Section Award for the feature “Bodegas Makeover” about an entrepreneur from Boston who’s helping mini-market owners transform their businesses in order to increase sales and survive.
“Bodegas Makeover is a great initiative of Evelyn Brito that deserves recognition and help to expand across the country. We will keep supporting all great ideas that help our Hispanic business community,” said Nicado.
The new awards consolidate Negocios Now’s position as the Latino business publication with the most awards in the United States. (HINA Wire).
