Zoe Lynch: ”Reimagining Culture and Communication Through Play”

Title: CEO
Organization: Variant
Age: 23

Zoe Lynch is the founder and CEO of Variant, a social platform that turns ideas, tweets, memes, and cultural moments into playable experiences to share. Built with proprietary technology and design systems, Variant makes interactive creation as immediate and expressive as posting a video. At its core, Variant is powered by people and artists—its games are created by game developers, its animations by animators, and its ecosystem by a growing community of creators shaping the platform together. Variant is backed by a16z Speedrun, 2048 Ventures, Blueprint Ventures, and Angeles Investors. What began as a vision is now a platform launching in February for sharing ‘variants’—games meant to be told, not just played.

Zoe has always loved stories, but growing up, traditional forms of expression often failed her. Neurodivergent with multiple processing differences, she learned early on that words didn’t always work for her. Through mechanics, visuals, and interaction, she found in games a new way to communicate—one that allowed her to express what she could not say any other way.

She is deeply committed to building technology that puts people first—especially creators, artists, and communities who have historically been overlooked. Variant is designed to lower barriers, reduce friction, and empower individuals to express themselves in ways that feel natural to them. By centering human creativity over automation, the platform creates space for developers, animators, and storytellers to expand what expression can look like.

Zoe graduated from Stanford University with both her BS and MS in Computer Science (AI). She has worked across game development, machine learning, and immersive media at Electronic Arts, Amazon, and Dolby Laboratories. Today, she leads with a clear belief: games are one of the most powerful forms of communication. Variant gives creators a new way to say what words can’t.
