Evelyn Sanguinetti made history by becoming the first Latina Lieutenant Governor of Illinois as Bruce Rauner’s 2014 running mate. Before becoming the lieutenant governor, Sanguinetti served a s member of the Wheaton City Council from 2012 to 2014. She holds a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Florida International University and a law degree from John Marshall Law School, where she has worked as an adjunct professor. She was an assistant attorney general under former Republican Illinois Attorney General, James E. Ryan before moving into private practice. Though she battles Multiple Sclerosis, she has vowed never to let it stop her.
