Bio: Billy Russo has spent his professional life working as a national baseball writer, broadcaster and translator/interpreter. Russo is the Manager of Spanish Communication for the Chicago White Sox. In that role, he helps Latino players adapt to a new culture, language, city and organization. He also helps them interact with the media and engage with the community.
For the past seven years, Russo has contributed to the White Sox Spanish-language website, orgullosox.com, and written a White Sox-focused Spanish blog called Medias Blancas con Orgullo.
Since 2012, he has been the Spanish radio analyst for Chicago White Sox games.
Russo came to Chicago for the very first time in 2008 to learn English and to cover baseball’s Major League season, with special attention paid to Latino players, coaches and managers for El Universal, a national newspaper in Venezuela. Then he started doing regular collaborations with and contributing to the Associated Press and ESPN Deportes, writing articles and doing interviews with baseball players, coaches and managers.
Russo, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, graduated from Universidad Santa María in Caracas with a degree in journalism.
