Berenice Vallecillos

Bringing an important voice to her community

Age: 30
Title: Director of Communications
Name of Organization: Morreale Communications

Bio: A native of Morelos, Mexico, Berenice Vallecillos is an expert in strategic communications who focuses on the intersection of public policy, community relations and transportation.

She is the Director of Communications at Morreale Communications, where she leads the transportation division. She manages major regional and statewide projects for public transit agencies, including the Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, Illinois Department of Transportation and the Chicago Department of Transportation. She offers her clients outreach services in Spanish, which gives an important voice to the Latino community in the development of public projects — something that has been lacking in the past.

She started her career at the Illinois General Assembly as a legislative aide for the 2nd Senate District. She also worked at Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, where she teamed up with elected officials, business owners, community leaders and the public on important land use and transportation processes.
Vallecillos is a proud co-founder of Chicago Prize Hoops, a Pilsen-based nonprofit that provides at-risk Latino youth with free mentoring, academic tutoring and basketball training opportunities. She serves as the communications co-chair for the Latino Giving Circle, a philanthropic and educational vehicle of The Chicago Community Trust, and is a member of the professional group Women’s Transportation Seminar.
