Andrew Velasquez serves as Managing Deputy Commissioner of Safety and Security for the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA). He is responsible for leading the multi-layered security strategy that enables more than 100 million passengers to travel safely through O’Hare and Midway Airports each year. Prior to joining the CDA, Velasquez served as an Administrator of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He also serves as a part-time adjunct faculty instructor for the University of Chicago’s Master of Science in Threat and Response Management program and lectures nationally and internationally on a wide range of emergency management and homeland security topics.
