Paul Roldan will receive the Community Champion Award during the Negocios Now’s Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago Gala Event to be held on July 8, at the Chicago Cultural Center.

As president and founder of Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, Paul has overseen more than $550 million in development work on 54 separate developments for families and the elderly.

Roldan’s company has had a huge impact in several Hispanic communities in Chicago, particularly for the more vulnerable families that live there. HHC developments include  4,200 apartments that have served multiple generations, giving thousands of families the opportunity to save money by paying lower rent, allowing them to escape poverty.

“For years, Paul has demonstrated being a real champion of our community opening the doors for thousands of families that hadn’t found viable options for living quarters” said Clemente Nicado, publisher of Negocios Now.

In 1988, Mr. Roldán was awarded the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellowship for his work in community development. He committed $100,000 of his fellowship award to the establishment of the Teresa and Hipólito Roldán Community Development Scholarship Fund in order to attract Latinos to the community development field.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Francis College and a master’s degree in urban studies from Long Island University in New York.
