Oil prices have risen sharply in recent days

Uncertainty about crude oil availability has moved energy markets and is already beginning to be felt in gasoline prices in the US.

In a matter of days, oil prices surged by around 30% due to the risk of shortages. During the peak of market tension, the price per barrel reached nearly $119 before retreating slightly. Currently, the price hovers around $90 per barrel, a figure that remains considerably higher than it was just a month ago.

Impact in the U.S.

This increase in crude oil prices is already having a direct impact on American consumers. Gasoline prices have risen rapidly, and in some parts of the country, the increase has been approximately 48 cents per gallon in just one week.

States like Florida are already reporting significant price increases at gas stations, reflecting how quickly fluctuations in oil prices translate into higher fuel costs.

Containment Measures

In response to this situation, authorities and international organizations have begun evaluating measures to stabilize the energy market. The International Energy Agency plans to release approximately 400 million barrels of oil from its strategic reserves to increase supply and reduce pressure on prices.

The White House has indicated that the price increase could be temporary. However, officials warn that market performance will depend largely on how the international situation develops and whether further disruptions to oil supply can be avoided.

Geopolitical Tensions

In recent weeks, energy sector analysts have pointed out that market volatility is largely due to geopolitical tensions in key regions for crude oil production and transportation.

The Persian Gulf is one of the main routes for global oil trade, and any conflict in the area, such as the US-Israeli trade war against Iran, generates immediate concern among investors and market operators.

The Strait of Hormuz, for example, is considered one of the most important strategic points for oil transportation in the world. This maritime route carries a significant portion of the crude oil exported from Middle Eastern producing countries to markets in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

When tensions arise in the region, markets typically react with rapid price increases due to fears of potential blockades or disruptions to oil tanker traffic.
