Monica Lopez is an alumna of Northeastern Illinois University, a human resources and organizational development consultant to business partners, a career coach, entrepreneur, and speaker.

At Northwestern Mutual, Lopez is leading the firm’s talent and diversity and inclusion talent initiatives through her various partnerships, working to increase Latino and female representation in the insurance and wealth management industry.

With more than 15 years’ experience in human resources and organizational development in industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, architecture, banking, insurance, real estate, tech, and higher education, Lopez has partnered with universities and businesses across the United States, supporting their initiatives in diversity, equity and inclusion, in recruitment, and in organizational development.

Lopez has served as a national ambassador and strategic partnership chair on the board of directors for the Association of Latino Professionals for America. Lopez’s contribution has helped lead a mission focused on elevating and supporting Latinx student and professional members through corporate partnerships with companies in various industries such as EY, PWC, Deloitte, Google, Allstate, AbbVie, Wintrust Bank and many more.

She actively serves as a councilwoman for Women Employed, where she spends her time advocating for changes in national policy that lead to greater equity in education and the workplace for women of color.

In her most recent role as a council member for Northeastern Illinois University’’s College of Business and technology executive council, she has served as an advisor to the dean and has been a lead contributor to the council, students, and community.

Her passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion and elevating women in all communities has led her to being selected to be the executive producer for Latino Thought Makers, a series produced with Hollywood filmmaker Rick Najera.
