Transforming culture through leadership

Age: 31

Title: Senior Relationship Manager

Name of Organization: LinkedIn

Close friends of Maria Teal know that she loves her job. Her career has jumped from social service to corporate sales, yet with each new venture, she embodies a passion for building great teams and cultures.

Maria launched her career as Head of Marketing at the nonprofit, InnVision Shelter Network (now LifeMoves), in Silicon Valley. When the company doubled in size through a merger, Maria spearheaded a “unity team” to connect employees through a shared vision of ending homelessness. She later took her passion for business leadership to Chicago, pursuing her MBA at the Kellogg School of Management. Maria stayed engaged in public service through Kellogg Board Fellows, and has since joined the board of Umoja Student Development Corporation, an education nonprofit supporting Chicago youth.

After graduate school, Maria joined LinkedIn and partnered with companies to assist them with attracting talent to showcase their employment brands to prospective candidates. As a champion of LinkedIn’s transformative culture, Maria led the Chicago Culture Committee, spearheading monthly events to invest in employee development. She also founded and sings in a company rock band, which debuted at the LinkedIn talent show in front of 3,000 peers. Maria is thrilled to find a home for her greatest passions; culture, leadership, and music, all in one place.

Maria holds a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She lives with her husband Solon in Chicago, where they love hosting dinner parties and traveling whenever possible.
