HINA (Press Release) Dear Mujeres Latinas en Accion supporters, on behalf of the Board of Directors of Mujeres Latinas en Acción I would like to first begin by thanking you for your support.  Mujeres Latinas en Acción, now in its 44th year of service is one of the longest standing Latina organizations in the nation, providing human services pertaining to gender violence prevention and intervention, economic empowerment, leadership development and community engagement.

We would like to share the news that after a 16-year tenure with Mujeres, Maria Pesqueira will step down as President & CEO on April 30, 2017.  During Maria’s tenure, Mujeres has become nationally recognized for its services, impact, management practices, fiscal integrity and has withstood the fearsome state budget crises of the past few years. That work has been possible in partnership, commitment to and dedication of the board and staff to the mission of empowering Latinas and their families.

Maria leaves her role to become the new President of the Healthy Communities Foundation (previously known as the Arthur Foundation). We are eternally grateful for her longstanding dedication and commitment to Mujeres and the families we serve. It has been my distinct honor and privilege to work with Maria over the years of my Board service. Maria will be deeply missed, but she leaves the organization in the capable hands of the excellent staff she has led and developed over many years.

The work of Mujeres Latinas en Acción will continue to thrive because we have been planning for and are well prepared to support the organization through this transition and find an excellent successor to continue in the next chapter of the organization.

After Maria’s departure on April 30th, Neusa Gaytan, Senior Vice President of Programs will fill the role of Mujeres’ Interim President and CEO while a search for Maria’s successor is conducted.
