Resilience and Innovation in Technology

Title: CEO

Organization: Tropical IT

Age: 35

Luis Schilling converted from an IT technician to a self-founded entrepreneur. His career began in Argentina at 18 years old as a computer technician. By the age of 24, he co-founded his first company, specializing in building video conference rooms. The business quickly expanded to six countries, leading to a relocation to Silicon Valley, where the company served major clients such as Google, Uber, Meta, Amazon, and WeWork. In 2020, after the company faced significant challenges due to the pandemic, it was acqui-hired by a global competitor. Over the next three years, Schilling played a key role in building a $40 million practice and expanding the company’s presence across Latin America.

That same year, Schilling and his brother Alberto launched We Install IT, a company that provides low-voltage IT technicians to some of the world’s top audio-visual integrators and cloud providers. While Alberto led day-to-day operations, Schilling supported business development alongside his full-time role.

In 2023, after another acquisition impacted his career path, Schilling made the decision to launch Tropical IT, the first multi-country e-commerce platform enabling companies to easily, transparently, and quickly source IT hardware across the Americas. Today, Schilling leads Tropical IT, while Alberto continues to run We Install IT. Together, their group employs more than 45 people across 8 countries and is on track to reach $35 million in revenue by December 2025.

From IT technician to tech entrepreneur, Luis Schilling’s journey is a testament to resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to building scalable, global solutions through technology.
