Juan Camilo was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. At the age of 5, his family relocated to the United States, settling in New York City. Juan became A Better Chance Scholar and attended Canterbury School in Connecticut for High School. In 2007, Juan graduated from Bryant University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Legal Studies. Juan is also a fellow of the first cohort of the 2013 Stanford University Entrepreneurship Institute where he concentrated in Finance and Strategy.

After working 6 years in finance Juan purchased a home brewing kit and began brewing beers inspired by the tastes and flavors he grew up with. He immersed himself in the fascinating world of craft beer and brewed different styles at home such as Café con Leche Milk Stout with Café Bustelo and a refreshing Passion Fruit Witbier for his summer ale. After intense research and a desire to start his own business, Juan decided to give his neighborhood the beer company it deserved, and Dyckman Beer Company was born. “Craft beers inspired by the people, flavor, and culture of Uptown NYC.” Dyckman Beer Company beers are distributed in 250 locations in New York City in addition to 25 locations in the Dominican Republic.

Juan is also a former board member of La Peninsula Head Start, the biggest head start program in the Bronx serving over 800 families. He is currently a trustee for the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum in Inwood, the oldest remaining farmhouse in New York City and a community board member for the mayor’s community-tech board which aims to build community power through creative technologies. A board member of Little Dominican Republic Historic District. Lastly, Juan is a recipient of the Goodwin-Procter’s Annual Neighborhood Business Initiative Scholarship.
