The proud son of 2 immigrant parents, Juan is a proud Colombian that has learned to adapt to the bi-cultural American and Colombian experience. On a personal note, he is an avid foodie and traveler, and remains unapologetically himself in any space, be it personal or professional. Juan currently has a portfolio career, wearing 3 hats at once:
Firstly, in the corporate arena with his role on PepsiCo’s university recruiting team, Juan leads the national partnership strategy and relationships focused on historically underserved communities, with the aspiration of having the PepsiCo working community reflect the population it serves with its brands every day.
Secondly, as a solopreneur, public speaking has become a space of influence for Juan, with a renovated mission to help others find their voice in any room or remind others of the importance of their voice and their vision. Juan has over 10 years of large-size public speaking experience and is also a public speaking coach with the Speeko team – a community leveraging AI to help with day-to-day public speaking practice.
Finally, in the non-profit arena: Juan received invaluable access to mentorship, career opportunities, and lifelong friends through the ALPFA organization, which he has participated in for over 15 years since his college Freshman year. In the spirit of giving back to the org that has given him its all, Juan has been part of the ALPFA Chicago and ALPFA New York boards for 10 years and is serving this year as ALPFA Chicago’s President, where he leads with intentional community impact top of mind.
Juan graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Illinois Chicago, after which he pivoted through 4 different careers to identify a career route for him that intersects his strengths and his passion for helping others navigate their careers. On a personal note, he is an avid foodie and traveler, and remains unapologetically himself in any space, be it personal or professional.
