Jimmy Aguilar is an Assistant Principal in East Palo Alto, CA with over 10 years of experience in public education. Throughout this time, he has dedicated his career to supporting historically underserved students and building school environments where equity, access, and high expectations are not just ideals, but the foundation of student success.
Jimmy began his journey in education as a classroom teacher, where he quickly distinguished himself as a leader in both instruction and student engagement. His experience in Title I schools, in particular, was pivotal in shaping his deep understanding of culturally responsive teaching, English Language Development (ELD), and the power of data-driven instruction. Over time, his leadership evolved through roles such as ELD Site Lead, Instructional Leadership Team Member, and Dean of Instruction. In each of these roles, he coached new and veteran teachers alike, helping them refine instructional practices and improve student outcomes across the board.
As an Assistant Principal, Jimmy continues to have a far-reaching impact by leading school wide initiatives focused on academic achievement, student well-being, and inclusive practices. He plays a key role in supporting the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), facilitates ongoing professional development, and collaborates with teachers, families, and district staff to reduce chronic absenteeism and build a positive, restorative school culture.
At the heart of Jimmy’s leadership is a commitment to relationships, equity, and continuous growth. He firmly believes that all students can thrive when schools create supportive, high-expectation environments that truly honor every learner’s strengths and potential. When not at his school site, Jimmy loves spending quality time with his wife and one-year-old daughter, cherishing the moments that fuel his passion for education even further
