Jatziry Ayala: Empowering Latinas in the Beauty Industry

Jatziry Ayala is a talented cosmetologist, educator, business owner, and social justice advocate based in Chicago. In 2017, she became the proud owner of Ara Salon (established in 1998), where she had worked alongside mentors since beginning her career in 2006. Her dedication and passion for the beauty industry have led her to participate in prestigious international events and magazines, including the America’s Beauty Show in Chicago, “Moda” de ColorLatino, Avantgarde in Chicago, and Estética Latina. At these events, she contributed as a model preparer, stage guest artist, and runway presenter, gaining recognition for her expertise and creativity.

As an educator, Jatziry is deeply passionate about mentoring the next generation, especially within the Latino community. She has given presentations and led workshops in high schools to inspire young minds to pursue careers in the beauty industry. Between 2013 and 2020, she was actively involved with ColorLatino Milano, assisting with event coordination, workshops, and product usage while learning how to effectively utilize their line.

In 2022, she expanded her influence by becoming an Educator and Technical Director at VMV Salerm Cosmetics Group in Illinois, where she shares with beauty professionals through seminars, workshops, and presentations both in person and online. Earlier in her career, Jatziry participated in a community radio training program (Radio Arte), which connected her with social justice causes. 

She used the platform to narrate and uplift the voices of vulnerable communities. Her commitment to social justice continues as she actively supports victims of violence and advocates for the Latino community in Chicago. Jatziry has created a safe space for everyone to share their stories and thrive. Despite the challenges of displacement, she continues to offer professional beauty services and provide a nurturing community space at her salon in the Pilsen neighborhood.
