Empowering Students Through Career Development
Title: Recruiter
Organization: Magnit
Age: 27
Jasmine is an impact-driven leader who has been volunteering with professional development organizations for a decade. Her passion for helping students with their career journeys was shaped by ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals for America). Joining ALPFA Queens College (QC) in her freshman year changed her life. During her time as President of ALPFA QC, she co-led her team to become recognized as the strongest chapter in the Northeast Region. Additionally, she helped revive or found several new ALPFA student chapters and connected the QC Career Center to new employers that still recruit at the campus.
During her junior year at college, Jasmine took her ambitious goals to the next level. She co-founded a 501(c)3 nonprofit that lasted 5 years. It served all 18 CUNYs (City University of New York) 1st and 2nd year college students who wanted to pursue a field within business or technology. It consisted of free bi-weekly soft & hard skill workshops and a mentorship program for a year. Starting an organization from scratch solidified Jasmine’s passion to uplift and guide students with their careers.
Jasmine’s career in the University Recruitment space (sourcing and programs) was perfectly manifested. She has worked in help building or improving talent identification programs. Additionally, at her former employer, Jasmine started or joined the board of multiple initiatives at the Familia BRG (Business Resource Group). She truly is happily fulfilled daily through impactful work!
To pay it forward, she volunteers her time (since her successes are attributed to mentors and nonprofits). Currently, she volunteers as a mentor at the SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management) SJSU (San Jose State University). She annually volunteers with THF (T. Howard Foundation) as a mentor and applicant reviewer as a proud alumni. Over the past decade, she used to eagerly volunteer for additional organizations.
Consistently, Jasmine demonstrates her passion both at work and as a volunteer. Her ability to create scalable impact through her work and as a volunteer shows that she doesn’t just participate in change, she leads it!
