Chicago, IL (October 23, 2024) – The Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) is on a mission to elevate the next generation of leaders. With the launch of its “Juntos AVANZAMOS: Elevating Scholarships and Leadership” campaign, HACE has set an ambitious goal to raise $100,000. This initiative aims to provide critical scholarships and leadership development programs that empower current and future leaders to unlock their full potential and make meaningful contributions to their communities and society.
In a time when funding cuts and job losses disproportionately impact underrepresented communities, the need for HACE’s support has never been greater. Amid a challenging landscape marked by growing anti-DEI rhetoric, HACE remains unwavering in its commitment to fostering equitable opportunities for all. The campaign’s slogan, “Together We Advance,” is more than just words—it represents the collective resolve to overcome the barriers faced by many Latino and underrepresented professionals.
Roberto Valdez, Midwest Director for Policy at Hispanic Federation and a recent graduate of HACE’s Hombres de HACE Leadership Program, highlights the program’s transformative impact. “Receiving the MacArthur Scholarship allowed me to participate in the Hombres de HACE program, where I connected
Daiana Quiroga-Nevarez, Assistant Director of Academic Affairs Initiatives and a proud graduate of the Mujeres de HACE Leadership Program, reflected on her experience. “Completing the program alongside powerhouse women gave me invaluable insights into negotiation, personal branding, and financial planning,” she said. Through personalized coaching, Quiroga-Nevarez enhanced her leadership skills and now empowers others as an educator and first-generation advocate.
Yoslin Amaya Hernandez, Student Advocacy Coordinator for Generation Hub, is another testament to HACE’s impact. A scholarship recipient and graduate of the University of Maryland, Hernandez emphasized the importance of education and mentorship. “This scholarship empowers me to uplift voices that need to be heard,” she stated. “Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable future for all.”
HACE’s programs, such as the ALZA Advanced Latino Leadership Program, El Futuro for high school students, and the Mujeres de HACE initiative, are tailored to address the unique challenges faced by Latino/a/x/e individuals and others from underrepresented backgrounds. These initiatives ensure participants gain the skills, confidence, and networks needed to thrive professionally and personally.
“HACE’s mission is about more than scholarships; it’s about creating a community where students and professionals can thrive,” said HACE President and CEO Patricia Mota. “Now more than ever, as funding for DEI initiatives is threatened and voices are silenced, we invite everyone to join us in this campaign to help break down barriers and foster a new generation of leaders. Your support can make a difference.”
The Juntos AVANZAMOS campaign will run until December 31, 2024, and the community is encouraged to contribute to this crucial cause. Donations can be made through the official campaign page. Every dollar raised will directly fund scholarships and leadership programs, paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.
