Gerardo Tristan Jr., a new Latino Judge

Gerardo Tristan, Jr. was sworn in today as a Cook County Circuit Judge in the Fourteenth Judicial Subcircuit.  Mr. Tristan grew up in the Brighton Park neighborhood.  He graduated from St. Joseph and St. Anne School and Quigley Preparatory Seminary South.  He went on to graduate from Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island, with an AB in Economics and International Relations.  

After Brown University, he returned home and worked for Household Finance and Motorola before returning to school at DePaul University – College of Law.  In 2002, he obtained his JD and worked for the Chicago Public Schools and Tristan and Cervantes law firm.  In 2003, he was hired by Cook County State’s Attorney, Richard Devine, and worked there until his appointment to the Cook County Circuit Court.   

Gerardo is a brother of Homero Tristan, founding partner of Tristan & Cervantes Attorney at Law. He was joined by his friends and family, including his parents as well as his wife Marie Tristan and children Antonio and Vicente.
