Berenice Tenorio, founder of Nuestra Cocina, will receive the “Latinas in Business Award” during Negocios Now’s Who’s Who in Hispanic Business in Chicago’s suburbs, to be held in The Drake Oak Brook, Autograph Collection, on August 20.
Tenorio was born and raised in Mexico and immigrated to the United States in 2004 to obtain professional experience with international markets. She founded Nuestra Cocina in 2013 and has served as its president since then.
Her journey began with the Nuestro Queso brand when it launched an extensive line of authentic Mexican cheeses in the Chicago market. In 2017, she developed other recipes for complementary food lines such as yogurts, creams, specialty meats and desserts under the Nuestra Cocina brand.
As president of a Hispanic- and women-owned food company, she has focused on developing premium products that are manufactured under environment-friendly processes and with strict quality and safety procedures.
In a few years, Tenorio has achieved a fast-growing presence in 22 states. Her products are sold in more than 2,500 supermarkets and acknowledged for their quality in chains as demanding as Jewel Osco, Mariano’s, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart, among others.
In the upcoming days, Negocios Now will announce other special recognitions such as Community Champion Award, Business of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Awards.
