Over the past 12 years, Edwin Martinez has demonstrated remarkable professional growth, evolving from a frontline social worker into a key leader overseeing multiple programs and organizations that support residents on Chicago’s Southwest Side. As the founding Executive Director of Centro Sanar, he has taken on the critical task of addressing the urgent need for mental health services in the communities of Brighton Park, Gage Park, Back of the Yards, and Little Village.

His vision and leadership have been essential in shaping an innovative service delivery model at Centro Sanar, which provides trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and multi-generational therapy in Spanish at no cost to those most in need. Under his strategic guidance, the organization has expanded significantly, evolving from a long-term individual therapy model to a comprehensive range of services, including group therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, and clinical case management.
