Edgar Silva Cepeda: Cultivating Financial Growth and Future Leaders

Title: Vice President

Organization: J.P. Morgan

Age: 28

Edgar is a Vice President and Private Banker at the J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Chicago. After beginning his career with the firm in New York City advising some of the largest families in Latin America, today he serves ultra-high net worth clients across Chicagoland, including multi-generational business owner families and senior corporate executives. Edgar and his team deliver innovative strategies spanning investments, banking, lending, and estate planning, aligning solutions to each client’s complex and evolving financial picture. Edgar views his role as especially critical in light of the great wealth transfer that is taking place–or on the horizon–for many families and communities.

Edgar heads the Internal Partnerships Pillar of the Chicago Private Bank Impact Council, which strengthens cross-divisional connectivity and amplifies community impact alongside local teams across JPMorgan Chase. He also manages the Summer Fellowship program, a 5-week long immersive internship that introduces a select few rising junior undergraduate students to financial services through hands-on projects and mentorship by senior members of the Chicago Private Bank.

Edgar graduated with high honors from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds a Bachelor of Science in both Finance and Information Systems/Information Technology. He is committed to expanding economic opportunity; outside of the office, he serves as a Mentor with The Fellowship Initiative (TFI) in Chicago, a college and career success program supporting young people from communities facing systemic barriers to economic advancement. TFI Mentors are at the forefront of academic enrichment, skill-building, career readiness, and leadership development workshops that ultimately support both students’ college admittance and their long-term economic mobility. Edgar’s involvement complements years of incredibly fulfilling informal mentorship and underscores his belief in the power of dedicated guidance–both for clients and for the next generation of leaders.
