Univision Chicago anchor Diana Pérez will be the emcee of the Negocios Now gala event “Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago”, to be held at Hyatt Regency Chicago on July 12.
A native of Celaya, Mexico, Univision Chicago anchor Diana Pérez moved to Chicago at the age of six.
Pérez learned English by watching the news, inspiring her to earn a bachelor’s degree in communications and sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Pérez joined the Univision Chicago team in 2015 as a weather anchor before eventually transitioning to the main anchor for the station’s morning, “Primera Hora”, and midday newscasts.
Negocios Now announced Special Awards recipients for the annual “Who is Who in Hispanic Chicago” gala, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on July 12, 2019.
Camerino Gonzalez, founder of Los Comales Restaurants, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award; Socorro Vasquez, president of Toro Construction Corp, will receive the Latinas in Business Award; Daniel Arce, CEO of Tropical Optical, will receive the Business of the Year Award; and Jose R. Sanchez, president of Norwegian American Hospital, will receive the Community Champion Award.
“Congratulations to all of them. Once again we have a great representation of Latino leaders receiving our Special Award,” said Clemente Nicado, publisher of Negocios Now. “We cannot wait to share our video showcasing Chicago’s Hispanic leaders during the celebration.”
Also, Jamie Rhee, Commissioner of Chicago Department of Aviation, will receive El Amigo de Negocios Now Award and Peter Villegas, VP of Coca-Cola for Latin Affair, will award with then Excellence Corporate.
“Who is Who in Hispanic Chicago” is a unique celebration, recognizing Hispanic leadership in Chicago with a gala and special edition publication profiling outstanding Hispanic work in the following fields: business, corporate, government, law, non-profit, real estate, health care, and finance.
“This year, for the first time, we will publish a section on emerging Latino leaders,” said Nicado. “This will showcase a generation of young and brilliant Latinos who are making a difference in their respective areas.”
Once again BMO Harris Bank is the presenting sponsor of the event that has received support from ComEd, Wintrust, Peoples Gas, Remy Martin, Coca Cola, Northeastern University and small business such as MZI and GSG Consultants. Other sponsors will be announced in the upcoming days.
The “Who’s Who in Hispanic Chicago” gala has been a sold-out event since its creation in 2014. This year, almost 60 percent of available tickets have already been sold.
