Carlos Vasquez is a first-generation Mexican American technology professional with over 12 years of experience in the industry. He is currently a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Adobe, where he focuses on building and operating scalable cloud infrastructure, enabling reliable code deployments, and advancing observability practices across complex systems.
Carlos’ interest in technology started at a young age. As a teenager, he would take apart discarded computers from his father’s workplace, teaching himself how to rebuild them and get them running using online tutorials. That curiosity evolved into a career centered around problem-solving, systems thinking, and continuous learning.
Early in his career, Carlos worked in Santa Cruz providing Linux and VoIP consulting, supporting a wide range of systems and environments. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he worked at a fintech company that was eventually acquired by Visa, gaining experience in infrastructure, operations, and security within high-availability systems. His work focuses on reducing operational risk by building resilient platforms that enable engineering teams to move faster with confidence.
Today, Carlos works remotely from Salinas, California, collaborating with distributed teams to design and operate resilient cloud platforms. His work spans infrastructure, automation, observability, and security, with an emphasis on reliability at scale. As the technology landscape evolves, he focuses on adopting new technologies to improve engineering workflows and productivity. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Guadalupe, and their cat, Dora.
