As an investor, Aury Cifuentes leverages her knowledge as a former fintech operator and manager when evaluating startups impacting people and large enterprises. Her unique perspective allows her to deeply understand operational challenges and strategic opportunities.
Before joining the venture capital industry, she was a manager at Bloomberg in New York City, where she focused on scaling a product catering to Delta One trading desks across major financial institutions. This experience sharpened her ability to navigate complex systems and deliver high-impact solutions.
Aury began her venture capital career at Plug & Play, where she focused on B2B SaaS startups in commerce, retail, and media—sectors that continue to evolve rapidly. Today, she is an investor at How Women Invest, a game-changing venture fund that invests in female-led startups from Seed through Series B. The fund focuses on high-potential areas including climate, health, and the future of work—domains where women founders are increasingly making waves.
In addition to her investment work, Aury is also a proud member of VC Familia. She has regularly mentored members of the Latino community in an effort to increase Latino representation in venture capital. To date, she has helped three individuals secure roles in Finance and hopes to continue coaching young professionals, as she understands firsthand the extra hurdles students and new graduates face today.
