Chicago- Ariel Investments announced the promotion of Emma Rodriguez-Ayala to President, underscoring the firm’s long-term succession strategy and commitment to strengthening its leadership bench.
Rodriguez-Ayala, who previously served as Chief Administrative Officer, has rapidly risen within the firm since joining three years ago as General Counsel. She was later elevated to Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, where she oversaw key operational areas including technology and middle-office functions.
Her appointment reflects both her impact inside the organization and a career defined by leadership across the investment management and legal sectors.
Before joining Ariel, Rodriguez-Ayala served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Legal & General Investment Management America (LGIMA), a registered investment adviser managing more than $200 billion in assets and the U.S. arm of one of the world’s largest asset managers. In that role, she led legal, governance, risk and compliance functions, while also serving on the firm’s Executive Committee and as Secretary of its Board of Directors.
Earlier in her career, she was a partner in the investment management practice at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP and General Counsel of Mesirow Advanced Strategies, at one point among the largest fund of hedge funds globally.
At Ariel, Rodriguez-Ayala has become a central figure in shaping enterprise strategy and operations. Her promotion to President— a role held for 25 years by the firm’s leadership—signals both continuity and evolution as the company positions itself for future growth.
Beyond her executive responsibilities, Rodriguez-Ayala is active in civic and professional leadership. She serves on the boards of WTTW/WFMT (Chicago PBS), Angeles Investors, and the Metropolitan Planning Council, and is involved with the Chicago chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals for America. She is also a member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association and the Private Directors Association.
Her contributions have earned national recognition, including being named a Top Latino Leader by the U.S. National Diversity Council and a Business Leader of Color by Chicago United. She was also selected as a ‘Top Latino Leader’ in 2025 by Time Magazine.
With this promotion, Ariel Investments reinforces its focus on building a leadership team equipped to drive long-term performance, innovation, and impact across the firm and the broader community.
