Houston, December 12, 2024 – Alex López Negrete, President, CEO, and co-founder of Lopez Negrete Communications, one of the most influential independent Hispanic marketing agencies in the United States, will be inducted into the 2025 Class of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Advertising Hall of Fame.
This honor, regarded as the highest recognition in the advertising industry, celebrates the outstanding contributions of individuals who have significantly shaped the field.
López Negrete, who founded the agency alongside his wife and business partner, Cathy, in 1985, expressed deep gratitude for the recognition:
“This achievement belongs to my life and business partner, Cathy, and the team of exceptional talents who have created magic for our clients over the decades. As one of the few Latinos to be included in this Hall, this recognition is more than personal—it symbolizes the power of authentic multicultural marketing and the importance of diverse voices in transforming our industry.”
With nearly four decades leading his agency, Alex has spearheaded groundbreaking campaigns for brands like Bank of America, Hyundai, Microsoft, Walmart, and many others, seamlessly integrating the rich cultural heritage of the Hispanic community into the fabric of American marketing.
A Multicultural Legacy
Alex and Cathy’s vision of bridging the gap between American companies and Hispanic consumers has elevated major brands and fostered greater appreciation for cultural diversity within the industry. López Negrete emphasizes that speaking to consumers in their language and cultural context goes beyond literal translation: “It’s about honoring and elevating the stories of our communities,” he says.
The agency is also renowned for its community commitment. In collaboration with the Houston Advertising Education Foundation, the López Negretes established the Lopez Negrete Hispanic Marketing Education Fund, providing scholarships to students interested in Hispanic advertising and marketing.
Recognition and Leadership
In addition to his upcoming induction into the AAF Advertising Hall of Fame, Alex has received numerous accolades, including the Trailblazer Award from ANA’s Alliance for Inclusive and Multicultural Marketing (AIMM), the Mosaic Champion Award, and the first Lifetime Achievement Award from the Houston Chapter of the Association of Women in Radio and Television.
He has actively served on key organizations such as the Latino Donor Collaborative, the Hispanic Marketing Council, and the Greater Houston Partnership, continuously advocating for Hispanic representation in the industry and opening doors for future generations.
