Entity: Monterrey Security

Juan Gaytan Jr., is president and founder of a security company that has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing Hispanic businesses in the entire country. Monterrey Security is the only minority security provider in the NFL, protecting Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears, and US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, home of the rival Minnesota Vikings. Monterrey Security is also charged with guarding historic Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, and it has contracts with teams in Major League Soccer as well as the Professional Golfers’ Association, claiming a hand in every major sports organization in the country.
Gaytan started Monterrey Security in 1999 as a second job. Four years later, and after 10 years with the Chicago Police Department, he turned to running the security business full-time. The company now employs 300 full-time workers and some 2,000 part-time employees, and it has grown to register annual sales of $20 million.
Gaytan considers Monterrey Security’s strength and growth potential to lie in its multicultural business. He employs a visible presence of Latinos and African Americans and he pulls from local communities to hire his staff, whether it be in Chicago or Minneapolis. Many of these employees, after being trained by the former cop, go on to become police officers, firemen and other types of security officers.
